Workshop | Grief: How to Lean In During Times of Loss

Ever felt like you had NO CLUE what to say or do in the face of a friend's loss? Or your own? Most of us feel ill equipped to navigate the dark and murky waters of grief. Let's change that.

It's hard to know what to say and do in the face death, loss, and grief. While we've been taught to reach for phrases like "she's in a better place," and "at least he's not suffering anymore," these platitudes most often miss the mark. They can be straight up painful.

We can change this.

With some simple "do's" and surprising "nope's", we can better support those we love (and ourselves) in times of loss. In this 90-minute interactive workshop, we'll explore alternatives to "time heals all wounds" and reasons why you might want to rethink giving that hug.

Learn effective and compassionate listening tools, tricks for counteracting the urge to "fix," and leave with your own "Let me Know If I Can Do Anything" list. Leave as an empowered ally in grief and even more supportive friend.

This event is happening in collaboration with the San Francisco Reimagine festival - a week of workshops, lectures, panel discussions, art, music and yes, comedy… all having to do with death and dying. Learn more
